#8 Riverfront Trail

This year, I'm going to spend 31 days writing about places.  In my profession, I talk about place-based writing quite a bit.  I frame it like this when I share:  We believe in the power of including spaces in the process of writing.  Place-based writing is the concept that the place where we write may influence our thinking, impacting the writer’s perspective, engagement, ownership, and/or purpose.  I'm really jazzed up, thinking about where I will spend time as a writer in 31 different spaces this month and how I can use each post to share a little slice of my day.

Today, the Riverfront Trail.

One of our favorite little Sunday morning excursions is to go downtown and bike the trail along the Mississippi River in front of the St. Louis Arch.  This is the sweet little slice of my day that I get to share today.

I'm ever so grateful for the change in weather lately.  I always forget how much February takes me down until it's over.  This is the first time out on our bikes this year, so it feels like a real indicator that winter is almost over.  Along this ride, you'll see:  lots of trees, lots of steps, lots of graffiti (intentional, cool, yearly project in StL), lots of birds, and usually lots of people.  Today, it was quiet and mostly empty.  There was a bright blue sky and a very cold wind.  Plus! we saw a Rolls Royce!

The ride isn't very long, but it's the perfect way to start Sunday Funday which usually involves a big breakfast... so it least we feel like we earned it today!  The next slice of my day was a literal slice of breakfast pizza from Hammerstone's.  Cheers to the edge of spring.
